Health & Education

In reference to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 3 and 6 which prioritizes Good Health and Water & Sanitation respectively, SEND Sierra Leone seeks to substantially reduce deaths and illnesses resulting from unhygienic environments. We hope to create a Sierra Leone where there is adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene through our projects. By this we facilitate the construction of improved health facilities and services in difficult to reach rural communities. We also facilitate the training and sensitization of communities on sanitation as well as the training health workers on health service delivery.

Women & Governace

In Sierra Leone, women and the girl child suffer from high levels of discrimination and marginalization based on societal stereotypes. SEND Sierra Leone is committed to ensuring that the girl child is able to have access to quality education without limitations. With education programs and projects tailored to empower the girl child, SEND Sierra Leone aims to help many girls achieve their dream of having an education and giving back to their community. With several models and projects running by SEND Sierra Leone, we continue to empower hundreds of women to be self-sufficient and independent of their husbands. This leads to increase livelihood security for their families as the women contribute to the household. We are not only committed to empowering women to be financially independent but also to take positions in governance on the national and local level to promote gender equity.

Livelihood Food & Nutrition

With the recent Ebola epidemic to hit Sierra Leone, the standard of living Sierra Leone dwindled even further following decades of civil war. This led to high levels of under nutrition, malnutrition and even death in many communities. With generations lacking formal education, there is heavy dependency on subsistence farming in the rural communities. SEND Sierra Leone intends to improve livelihood security of target groups and beneficiaries by introducing them to sustainable alternatives of income generation to subsistence farming . We train individuals on new and improved agricultural practices to increase agricultural yield as well as diversify their agricultural yield. In an attempt to strengthen and increase income levels; we train people in business management skills, entrepreneurship, strengthen existing and establish credit groups and unions.
